The NUS Comics and Animation Society had its humble beginnings in 1999, when a small group of friends came together to create a space for fellow Japanese animation and comics enthusiasts to meet and interact. In 2000, we became a society under Cultural Activities / Community Service (CACS) as the NUS CACS Comics and Animation Society. In 2002, due to CACS’ restructuring, we decided to become an independent interest group and was renamed the NUS Students’ Comics and Animation Interest Group. We underwent yet another name change in 2005, when we finally achieved the status of a full-fledged registered society, and we are now the NUS Comics and Animation Society that you know today. The many changes in our official name reflect the myriad transformations our society has undergone throughout the years. From a small club formed by a group of animanga fans, we have grown into a society with more than 100 members, a dedicated committee and a strong alumni network. However, the nickname “NUS Anime Club”, which has stuck to us ever since the society’s earliest infancy, reflects our never-changing commitment to bringing the joy of anime and manga to the NUS community and beyond. Our aims are:

* To provide a space for NUS students of the same interest to meet and interact.
* To encourage local support for comics, animation and related industries.
* To encourage the development of local production for comics, animation and related industries.
